Must Be a Certified Copy from the Court
You must submit an "Original Certified Copy" issued by the Clerk of the District Court in the New Mexico county where the divorce was granted. A notarized photocopy is not acceptable.
Proper Signature and Seal
The document must be signed by the Clerk of the District Court (or a Deputy Clerk) and must bear the official seal of the District Court.
Document Must Be Complete and Unaltered
The certified copy must be in pristine condition with no tears, staple holes, or any alterations. If it is a multi-page document, all pages must be certified as one complete document by the court.
Complete the Cover Sheet
New Mexico requires a completed "Apostille/Authentication Cover Sheet" to be submitted with your request. This form is mandatory.
Correct Payment
The fee is $25.00 per apostille. Payment must be made by check, money order, or cashier's check payable to the "New Mexico Secretary of State". Cash and credit cards are not accepted for mailed requests. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return shipping.
