Use the Correct Document

You should NOT have your certified Missouri birth certificate notarized. The apostille is placed directly on the certified vital record itself, authenticating the signature of the State Registrar. Notarizing it will cause rejection.
Ensure the Document is Original and Unaltered
The certified copy must be in its original condition. Do not staple, tape, or hole-punch the document. The raised seal and signature must be completely visible and intact.
