The document must be a certified copy issued and signed by the Clerk of the Circuit Court (or a Deputy Clerk) from the county where the divorce was granted. The document must bear the court's seal. The Illinois Secretary of State verifies this signature against their records.

Include Correct Payment
The fee is $2.00 per apostille. Payment must be made by check or money order payable to the "Illinois Secretary of State." Cash is not accepted.
Provide Pre-paid Return Shipping
You must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope or a pre-paid shipping label for the return of your documents. The Secretary of State will not return documents without this.
