Must Be a Certified Copy from the Court
You must submit an "Original Certified Copy" issued by the Hawaii State Judiciary's Circuit Court (First, Second, Third, or Fifth Circuit) where the divorce was granted. A notarized photocopy is not acceptable.
Proper Signature and Seal
The certified copy must have the original signature of the Clerk of the Circuit Court (or a Deputy Clerk) and must bear the official seal of that specific Circuit Court.
Document Must Be Complete and Unaltered
The certified copy must be in pristine condition with no tears, staple holes, or any alterations. If it is a multi-page document, all pages must be certified as one complete document by the court.
Complete the Authentication Request Form
Hawaii requires a completed "Authentication Request Form" to be submitted with your request. This form is mandatory.
Correct Payment and Return Shipping
The fee is $1.00 per apostille/document. Payment must be made by check or money order payable to the "Office of the Lieutenant Governor". You must also include a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope for the return of your documents.
