Rules for Power of Attorney
Eligible POA documents
Georgia will apostille POAs that are either properly notarized in Georgia or are certified Georgia public records (vital records, court or Corporations Division documents).
Notarization elements required for POAs
Notary must date, sign, and affix a clear seal/stamp; notary signature and seal must match commission records and all signatures/seals must be original.
Photocopies and certified copies
Photocopies are not accepted unless a Georgia notary properly certifies the copy as a true certified copy under Georgia rules.
Documents GSCCCA will not apostille
GSCCCA cannot apostille out-of-state documents, federal documents (FBI, USCIS, consular birth abroad), or documents issued by foreign countries.
Foreign-language documents & translations
Documents should be executed in English or include a notarized translator’s affidavit; check destination-country rules for translation requirements.
eCertified divorce decrees note
Printed digital divorce decrees from counties participating in Georgia’s eCertification program are acceptable for apostilles.

Apostille fee is $3.00 per document (Certification of Notary Public is $2.00 per document when applicable).
