Must Be a Certified Copy from the Court
You must submit a certified copy of the Judgment of Divorce issued by the California Superior Court in the county where the divorce was granted. The certification must be an original, signed by the court clerk.

The certified copy must have the original signature of the County Clerk (or an authorized deputy) and must bear the official seal of the Superior Court. A stamped or printed signature without the seal is insufficient.
Document Must Be Complete and Unaltered
The certified copy must be in pristine condition with no tears, staple holes, or any alterations. If it is a multi-page document, all pages must be certified as one complete document by the court.
Complete the Request Form
California requires a completed "Authentication Certificate Request Form" to be submitted with your request. This form is mandatory and must be signed.
Correct Payment and Return Shipping
The fee is $20.00 per authentication/apostille. Payment must be made by check or money order payable to the "Secretary of State". You must also include a self-addressed, postage-paid return envelope for the return of your documents.
